Historical Studies and Studies on Historical Literature
The Institute of History has and Document 11 staff persons: 3 researchers,2 associate researchers 3 assistants and 3 trainees. Its major study fields are: modern and contemporary Yunnan history, cultural history of Yunnan, ethnic craftsmanship and ethnic costumes; in 1960s, historians made a comprehensive social and historical survey about ethnic minorities in Yunnan with the support of Provincial Ethnic Affairs' Committee. Afterwards, numerous data and pictures were collected. These precious materials show various ethnic social patterns, which can be useful for national minority policy-making, national unity and economic development. Also this is good for studies of local and ethnic history, In1980s, because of the geographical advantage, the Institute of History has made great achievements in studies of warlords' history in south western China, politic situation of south western border areas, technology history of Yunnan, mask culture, temple culture and ethnic craftsmanship.
